Captain Brent Nelson had the pleasure of fishing with Louis on the Butler Chain of Lakes. This fishery is one of the best for catching fish all year round but especially during the warmer months of the year. One of the main reasons is that it has much deeper water that allows the bass to stay cool. If you are going to explore Florida for bass, wild-caught live shiners is the best method to catch fish.
The main structure of focus on this fishing trip was submerged hydrilla and vegetation. Even though live bait put most of the bass in the boat, artificial baits were effective as well. The most effective lures were spinner baits, flukes, top waters, and a shakey head worm. Louis caught numbers of bass weighing up to 4.5 pounds.
Captain Brent is looking forward to the next opportunity to get Louis on some bass in the future!
It was not long after this fishing trip that Captain Bill Goudy Jr explored the waters of Central Florida. Captain Mike had the pleasure of fishing with Eric and his son Grayson on the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes. Summer bite can be either super hot or slower than normal. This trip is was slow but productive with more quality fish.
Eric and Grayson caught some big bass on this fishing trip. The biggest fish weighed close to 7-pounds. They also caught several fish in the 4 pound range. Most of the fish came off the bank in 4-6 foot of water on black and blue speed worms. Every trip you can land that fish of a lifetime. When it comes to summer time fishing, you just have to stay patient.
